Lisa Edwards-Burrs, who has been described as “a soprano of crystalline beauty”, received degrees in Vocal Performance from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia (B.M. and M.M.) and The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. (D.M.A.). An accomplished lyric-coloratura soprano, her performances in recital, oratorio and chamber music are extensive. Her operatic roles include: Athena in The Furies, Ola/Harriet Tubman in Vanqui, Blanche in Dialogues of the Carmelites, Monica in The Medium, Despina in Così fan tutti, Treemonisha in Treemonisha, Adina in L’elisir d’amore and Poppea in L’incoronazione di Poppea.
Currently Dr. Burrs is an Associate Professor of Voice at Virginia State University in Petersburg, Virginia and soprano soloist at Saint James' Episcopal Church in Richmond, Virginia.
Michael Carl Simpson has enjoyed a distinguished career as an organist, pianist, teacher and recitalist. Her was Organist and Minister of Music at Ginter Park Baptist Church for thirty-six years before being appointed Associate Director of Music at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in 2006. Simpson serves as accompanist and associate Conductor of the Richmond Symphony Chorus and is the conductor of the Richmond Renaissance Singers. He was an adjunct faculty member at Virginia State University and the University of Richmond and worked part-time as an organ technician for the Lewis & Hitchcock Pipe Organ Company.
