The electronic platform houses Georgia DOE’s teacher and leader effectiveness frameworks, including self-assessments, classroom observations and walkthroughs, student surveys and student learning objectives, and manages the entire evaluation process all in one, efficient system. The electronic effectiveness system promotes teacher and principal interaction, so that teachers can respond to the principal’s observation and feedback of their instructional practice. Administrators can conduct classroom observations and walkthroughs both online and offline as they observe teachers in the classroom, eliminating paper and pencil. The platform links standards to professional learning opportunities. For example, if teachers need support with instructional practice skills such as classroom management, they can be led to professional development classes, videos, and online professional learning communities to help them with that particular area. The electronic effectiveness system has robust reporting and dashboards allowing principals and the district office to see at a glance where the evaluation process stands.

In the 2012-2013 school year, approximately 50,000 teachers in both Race to the Top and non-Race to the Top districts will participate in a pilot of the Teacher and Leader Effectiveness systems. Full statewide rollout for required evaluations is planned for the 2014-2015 school year.
