By: F.C. Silver Star "I want to give children the opportunity of experiencing soccer at a level I never had the opportunity to experience while growing up" said Miguel, "I grew up playing out on the streets of LA, uneven dirt fields, surrounded by gangs and frequent shootings. I however; followed my dream and played professionally in the Mexican Premiere League. Now I'm home, and I want to give back to the community by providing children with a professional soccer environment in some of the best fields in Los Angeles. I want children to know that whatever one desires can be accomplished, I want to see them going to college through soccer, and why not maybe even making soccer their career." After signing up with the Anaheim Bolts, Miguel returned to his home in LA. A few months later, he founded F.C. Silver Star Soccer Academy in the city of Playa Vista. The academy aims get children into the sport of soccer, and teach them everything from fundamentals to advanced techniques of soccer through a professional soccer environment. Another goal of the organization is to teach players of the academy the importance of attending college. Together with the players, the coaches explore the possibilities of attending a major university by developing good skills in soccer and academics. A combination of both could well lead them in the career of their dreams; whether it's an academic career or a career in soccer. F.C. Silver Star provides the Los Angeles Youth Community yet another way to remain active to fight obesity, promote sport involvement to maintain youth out the streets, and with professional soccer training to help those children reach their dreamed careers.
