Online Advertising Company in Temecula, CA, Changes Name, Disputes "Slanderous and False" Review

Aug. 29, 2012 - PRLog -- Readers of Ripoff Report beware: An individual or organization in the Temecula, CA, area may be spreading misinformation about a local online advertising company. Representatives from OBL, Inc., previously known as One Box Listings, are currently disputing claims made on the popular scam report site by an alleged former client that they changed their name in order to evade negative reports about their services.

Offering SEM (search engine marketing), local search optimization, Web site design, and other Web development services to small businesses, OBL, Inc. abbreviated its name in order to provide potential clients with something more catchy that won't be confused with companies that have similar-sounding names, according to a company spokesperson. The change was officially finalized in August 2012.

"We changed our name to make it more distinguishable and more memorable for our clients," said Charles Tumbrello, owner of OBL, Inc., "not because we're trying to pull one over on them. We've been wanting to make this change for several months, and now that it's official, we're very excited to spread the word."

The Ripoff Report complaint, supposedly written by the owner of a small law firm in Beverly Hills back in May 2012, makes several unsubstantiated claims regarding the professionalism and integrity of OBL, Inc. In one instance, the author says that OBL, Inc. uses "deceptive practices" to "lure" prospective clients into their online advertising program; in another, the author alleges that Co-owner Monika Tumbrello threatened to take the law firm to court after an attempted cancellation. The complaint concludes by speculating that OBL, Inc., One Box Listings, LLC, and One Box, Inc. are all variations of the same company "in the business of robbing clients and ruining their online reputation."

Charles Tumbrello filed a rebuttal on the same page, describing the complaint as "slanderous and false," stating that OBL, Inc. has no record of having an attorney in Beverly Hills as a client at any point. When asked to address the author's implication that OBL, Inc. is affiliated with other similarly named companies, he said, "We changed our name to distinguish ourselves from the several different companies that have similar names so as to avoid this kind of confusion."

In response to the claim that she threatened the author, Monika later remarked, "I work behind the scenes, so I don't even speak directly to customers--let alone threaten them--nor would I instruct any of my staff to do so."

"We suspect this blatantly false review was written by a competitor or former employee," Charles added.

OBL, Inc., based out of Temecula, CA, is an online advertising company that offers SEM, local search optimization, and custom Web site design. It is co-owned by Charles and Monika Tumbrello.
