Hi, I’d just like to introduce myself and to express my thoughts about why I had the urge to launch an online business dedicated to the indulgences of the modern women and why I specifically chose authentic Russian handbags as my main theme.
To me it is indisputable that there is a fashion void especially when it comes to handbags in western countries and in particular Australia, as I ought to know I'm born and bred Russian and have done my fair share of travelling worldwide and Europe seems just a little spoilt when compared to what’s available in many other western counties for the average person on the street.
Don't get me wrong as in my opinion this void only applies to handbags and to a certain extent designer shoes as well, but it’s just an opinion and not necessarily fact but enough to stir me up and transform a dream of mine into a reality by creating Russian Handbags.
You could ask why Russia, why not Italy, why not France, etc. when it comes to sourcing what I consider to be a void and my answer to that is I truly believe that if you are going to do something no matter what it is, it must be close to your heart, something you love, a part of your soul, it needs to engage you and Russian handbags serves this role perfectly well.
Italy and France have certainly a huge fashion history to be proud of and these two countries in particular have the longevity to prove it, hey I’m not saying they’re the best but heck you can’t say that you have never heard of Chanel or Louis Vuitton and there is no denying there impeccable quality to say the least. Gee I am the proud owner of both these labels and can also boast a few more as well both from Europe and even a Coach bag or two from the United States.
All I’m saying is for the average women out there with a mortgage, a family and bills to pay has not a lot left over for one of those cherished designer label hand bags that all women have a hankering to own.
Hey and while on the subject there is still a huge amount of fashion savvy ladies that don't want one of those cheaper imported Asian bags that well might be of reasonable quality but still don’t have that special designer stamp on it, that gee look at me I’m special feeling that we all long for.
To be honest I cringe when I see famous designer labels being out right copied, replicated and proudly toting branding that has taken decades for the likes of Chanel or Louis Vuitton to build and I always wonder what sought of person justify such blatant thievery and the desecration of such wonderful brands.
All fashion designers famous or not get there inspiration from somewhere else, but blatant duplication I find hard to swallow. I’ve opened a can of worms haven’t I?
To sum it up there is plenty of top end labels and even more bottom end no name labels but not much in the way of mid-priced, good quality products and in particular with a made in Russia stamp on them.
Russia is a proud country with an interesting history to say the least and has also historically looked outside its borders for fashion and anything associated with this industry, maybe the exception is those world renowned scarves and shawls from Pavlovo Posad?
Russians have also had a culture that is incredibly rich by any standard and it is undeniable that Russian women in particular are notorious for their impeccable fashion panache, flair for elegant layering and almost defiant sense of taste, but now more than ever Russia is getting the attention of the world’s best designers and their sophisticated clientele.
Russia has a vibrant local market and this extends to the fashion industry and there is a population that was once obsessed with anything out of Russia now looking inside its own borders to fulfil at least some of their fashion needs.
Walk around the streets of any major city in Russia 10 years ago and you would have found mostly imported handbags, specifically from Italy. But today you have well yes handbags from Italy but also China, Korea, Vietnam and proudly Russian bags are now making a strong presence and this is getting more apparent especially in the last 2-3 years.
But in the last decade and a half there has been interest from a far and the fashion industry has started to come out of its shell/cocoon if you like and the metamorphosis has been quite astonishing, as brand names such as Slava Zaitsev, Valentin Yudashkin and scarves and shawls from world renown Pavlovo Posad most certainly have had their place in positioning Russian fashion on the world stage to name a few.
Russians have most certainly turned the fashion corner and now look proudly at their own country for something just that little bit special as well now, Russians are now only just getting that they can be exotic and fashionable too.
This exotic, fashionable country is something that has been admired for its mystic, its culture, its people for many a decade outside of Russia but something the Russian have been slow in believing.
Ponder these thoughts while you are browsing our brand new website, and enjoy!
Russia welcome to your piece of the fashion pie!
