Aug. 28, 2012 - PRLog -- August 28, 2012, Farmingville, NY -  Thousands of people flocked to the streets of Farmingville to participate in this year's 1st Annual Street Fair on Sunday, August 26. The Farmingville Hills Chamber of Commerce, Inc. couldn't have asked for anything more on this fine day. Families from near and far were serenaded by the tunes of theatrical performers and awed by Taiko drumming as their taste buds were in overload from the explosion of flavors being offered by various food vendors.

The main strip of Portion Road was buzzing with praise from residents and elected officials. "This was long overdo," commented one spectator, as she passed by the gleaming classic cars on display.

Vendors specializing in crafts, toys, jewelry, clothing, and accessories were in abundance. Yet, Proud Member signs adorned with the Chamber logo were distributed to bring awareness to vendors who are committed to the organization and the community of Farmingvillle. As an incentive to encourage participation, the Chamber was also offering its members a complimentary booth. The officers aimed to get members exposure, providing opportunities to create relationships with potential customers.

"We wanted to create a fun-filled day in our community for people of all ages," stated chamber president, Michael Wentz. "Bringing new life and excitement to Farmingville could not have been done without the support of the businesses, especially those who went above and beyond to sponsor an event of this magnitude."

With over a year of planning, the Chamber president spearheaded a campaign to make this day possible. Property owners, businesses, Town officials, the Farmingville Fire Department, and Suffolk County Police Department needed to get onboard before moving forward. Fortunately for the attendees, they were in agreement that a Street Fair would be perfect for this area.

"Today is all about Farmingville and the Sachem community," commented Yvonne Papaemanuel of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage.

Indeed, the day showcased people of a community coming together. Hopefully this is only the beginning for the young organization, as the Farmingville Hills Chamber of Commerce strives to "make a difference."
