Breast cancer survivor Jacquelyn was one of hundreds of breast cancer patients each year grateful to have found Sense of Security in the midst of a traumatic time in their lives. “I had run out of funds. The criteria for help from some other places were so high.” A call from Edith Chavez, program manager at Sense of Security, relieved Jacquelyn’s financial stress during a difficult time. “Sense of Security was so comforting to me. I am back at work now, my health is good. I feel blessed.”
Sense of Security has helped more than 860 breast cancer patients in Colorado just like Jacquelyn with financial assistance for monthly bills such as rent/mortgage, utilities, transportation, groceries, insurance premiums, and other basic household expenses during treatment and recovery. Many are forced to stop work due to illness, while others take a leave of absence. The lack of income during this time creates devastating consequences to their household finances.
