Toyota has added the Prius c to the list of vehicles available as part of the company’s College Grad Rebate Program.
The program allows a $1,000 rebate to buyers who graduated within the last two years or who are about to graduate in the next six months. The other vehicles that can be bought with the rebate are the non-hybrid Camry, Tacoma, Yaris, Corolla, Matrix, RAV4, and all Scions. The Prius c is the first hybrid for which the graduate advantage can be used.
The “c” in Prius c stands for “city”, and the Prius c, which has EPA-rated fuel economy of 53 mpg, was designed with young urban drivers in mind.
“The Prius c, is taking off as one of the most popular vehicles among young adults, but more than that, it is a dependable and economical way for recent graduates to get to new jobs and start their careers,” Mike Groff, TFS Group’s sales, product and marketing vice president, said in a statement. “We hope this $1,000 rebate, which can be coupled with other incentives, helps make the dream of car ownership a little easier.”
The institution must be a four-year college, university, or registered nursing program; an accredited two-year college; or a graduate degree program. Graduates of accredited post-secondary automotive programs and electrician apprenticeships or certification programs are also eligible.
Those receiving the rebate can also take advantage of the College Graduate Finance Program, which offers a competitive APR/lease and incentives that include no money down, no monthly payments for the first 90 days, a waived security deposit on leases, and Toyota Care roadside assistance.
The rebate program runs until January 2, 2013. It also requires proof of current employment or employment to begin within 120 days.
