He noted in an OpEd article in this morning’s Tampa Tribune that AMAC supports the repeal of Obamacare, Social Security reform and the protection of religious liberty. But, he suggested that the platform would benefit from the addition of a not-so-new non-policy idea.
“Because politics is ultimately not about programs and policies but the great ideas, we believe Americans would find nothing more heartening than a preamble to this year's platform that in speaking to the crisis of our time points to the basic sustaining notions of American democracy that career politicians so often forget,” Weber wrote.
He singled out President Ronald Reagan in his article noting that “his greatness as a president rested on his understanding of the greatness of America.” And, the AMAC chief cited Paul Ryan’s remarks during a recent appearance with Mitt Romney. Ryan said: “America is more than just a place. … It's an idea. It's the only country founded on an idea. Our rights come from nature and God, not government."
Weber said that Ryan’s observation echoed those of President Reagan, providing what he called an “eloquent”

The Association of Mature American Citizens [http://www.amac.us] is a vibrant, vital and conservative alternative to those traditional organizations, such as AARP, that dominate the choices for mature Americans who want a say in the future of the nation. Where those other organizations may boast of their power to set the agendas for their memberships, AMAC takes its marching orders from its members. We act and speak on their behalf, protecting their interests, and offering a conservative insight on how to best solve the problems they face today.
