Equal usage of iPhone and Android defies overall business employee mobile usage; other interesting findings tied to iPhone vs. Android

Aug. 28, 2012 - PRLog -- DENVER –  A recent survey conducted by Realis Real Estate Software established that the iPhone and Android-based phones are utilized approximately the same amount by real estate agents.

In Realis’ survey of top real estate agents and brokers in Colorado, 43 percent said they use iPhone and 41 percent said they use an Android mobile phone. Nine percent of respondents use Blackberry phones, three percent use Windows 7 phones and four percent use another service. iPhone and Android are clearly the most preferred options and utilization is about neck and neck among agents.

Realis created the survey to gather current information about technology utilization trends of real estate agents.

“As we look forward to launching our next product, Overture, we wanted to best understand the market we will be selling to through this informative survey,” said Lauren Roberts, CEO and Founder of Realis. “Because the industry is beginning to recover from the housing crash, it is more important than ever for real estate agents to utilize the best and most efficient technology to further their business.”

iPass, an enterprise mobility service, states in their 2011 Global Mobile Workforce Report that 95 percent of mobile workers now have smartphones, up from 85 percent at the end of 2010. The company determined in a poll of 2,300 enterprise employees across multiple industries that 45 percent of mobile users prefer iPhone, while 21 percent use Android. There is an obvious preference for iPhone over Android among enterprise employees overall, but this doesn’t seem to translate to real estate agents.

Digging deeper into Realis’ survey, the software company found that 56 percent of iPhone users also own an iPad, while 58 percent of Android users do not own a tablet device. Perhaps the most interesting finding was that 75 percent of iPhone users said they use social media, compared to only 55 percent of Android users.
