What: Yogi Fun Yoga Class for Kids
Who: Parents and children ages 3-5
When: Tuesdays, September 18th - October 9th 9:00am-9:45am

Monterey County Youth Museum will be offering a new class, Yogi Fun starting September 18th.

Yogi Fun is a playful approach to yoga for children ages 3-5. Yogi Fun with Sandra Erickson teaches basic yoga poses using fun, imaginative stories where each child participates through creative play. Children will build strength, coordination, body awareness and self-confidence through yoga postures, group play and an overall good time! Yogi Fun fosters the well-being of a child in a loving, friendly, non-competitive environment.

Joining other children's museums across the country, MY Museum is introducing new ways for families to get moving together. "These days it is so important to make movement and exercise a regular part of family life," said Lauren Cohen, Executive Director of MY Museum "Providing an opportunity to do so together as a family in a space that is designed for children makes this class fun and unique." Not only does yoga class participation contribute to a healthy lifestyle, it has been linked to improved self-confidence, better concentration and overall sense of well-being in young children and students.

Yogi Fun founder, Sandra Erickson has studied yoga for over twenty years. Two years ago she was discovered by students Isabella 6, and Zoey 4, who affectionately named her Mushi Mushi. She obtained her certification at It’s Yoga Kids in San Francisco and has taught in schools throughout the bay area including the It’s Yoga Kids studio. Recently, Sandra has returned from India where she taught in a remote Himalayan village. Sandra holds a Registered Yoga Teacher certification with the Yoga Alliance.

MY Museum is located at 425 Washington Street, downtown Monterey. The facility offers 8,500 square feet of interactive exhibits including MY Healthy Farm, MY Hospital, and MY Day at the Beach, a special 3 and under area dedicated to infants and toddlers. MY Museum offers regular daily programs that encourage self-directed learning and exploration in a fun, safe environment for families with children up to 10 years old.

MY Museum General Information:
Admission $7 adults and children, children under 2 free.
Open Tuesday-Saturday 10-5pm, 12-5pm Sundays, closed Mondays
