The venture uses internet bots or web robots to crawl the World Wide Web and collect data from various social media sources. It then aggregates this information and uses a proprietary algorithm to analyze the tone of the language being used and searches for trends. These trends reveal a host of interesting data points and have enormous implications, including the possibility of predicting future outcomes with a high degree of certainty.
Representatives of the venture said, “Our algorithms and technology have been processing data since 2006 with fantastic results and we felt it was time to share them with a broader audience.” The Gray Suit Project believes anything that involves human interaction can be predicted using this technology and that sports offer the most robust data set due to its finite nature.
To show the possibilities and what can be achieved with their platform, the venture breaks down its data into a single score called the ‘Pulse on the Web” or POW. From this central score, a number of other valuable and easily understood data points illustrating the implications of the various aspects of the trending analysis are produced. The Gray Suit Report will contain all of these discrete data points including:
• Potential Anomalous Matchups (PAM)
• Anomalous Matchup Predictor (AMP)
The venture intends to make its report available to media outlets, sports franchises, marketing agencies, and individuals with a full suite of custom solutions to suit any entity’s information needs.
ABOUT THE GRAY SUIT PROJECT -- Founded in 2006, The Gray Suit Project manages a proprietary new technology for measuring language on the Internet called “Pulse on the Web” or “POW”. The POW was developed to answer a central question: “Solely by analyzing trends in the language used on the World Wide Web, can unique insights be gained and do they have the ability to predict the outcome of future events?” By measuring the POW and breaking it down into unique data points which can be easily reported and understood, they produce a wide array of information with multiple uses. The venture chose to focus their largely secret algorithms on sports because each game is a discrete event which occurs over a finite period of time and the outcome is not open to interpretation nor can the results be influenced by any inherent biases (i.e. there will be a winner and loser). They document their work in a daily journal called The Gray Suit Report.
