Subic “Shore it Up!” International Coastal Cleanup 2012 at The Lighthouse Marina Resort

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug. 28, 2012 - The Lighthouse Marina Resort in cooperation with Ocean Conservancy, ICC Philippines, Subic “Shore It Up!”, “Clean Up The World”, and in partnership with Metro Pacific Investments Corp. Foundation (MPFIC), and along with more than half a million people across the globe, will unite with one common purpose - to start a sea of change. This will take place on September 15, 2012 starting 6am, from the Boardwalk to The Lighthouse Marina Resort, and Mabayuan Olongapo, under the Rotary Club of Subic.

“Last August 7, 2012, Olongapo City suffered from a flood brought about by the Habagat. This is a result of pollution in our waterways. We have to act now!” explained by David Bayarong, marketing officer of The Lighthouse Marina Resort and one of the organizers of the coastal cleanup.

All year long, organizations and individuals take part in Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup to remove trash and debris from the world’s beaches and waterways. In 2011, more than 6,000 volunteers including families, organizations from both private and corporate sectors participated in the International Coastal Cleanup in Subic Bay Freeport Zone. These volunteers donated their time to remove more than 6,952 kilograms of debris from approximately 2 kilometers of the Subic Bay shorelines.
