Global Health City appoints Dr. Sandeep Attawar as Head of Cardiac Surgery

Aug. 28, 2012 - PRLog -- Steering a paradigm shift in cardio vascular surgery, Global Health city today announced the appointment of Dr. Sandeep Attawar, as Group Advisor, Director of Cardiac Surgery and Heart and Lung Transplantation, Surgeon-in-Chief.   With over 14 years of experience Dr. Sandeep has pioneered over 5500 multivessel CABG’s (Coronary artery bypass), largely OP-CABG (Beating heart coronary artery bypass) using left ITA’s (Internal mammary artery), free left and bilateral radial arteries, the use of a pedicled Rt GEPA (gastro epiploic artery as a vascular substitute for coronary artery bypass in over 50 cases), and over 150 reoperative CABG’s (Redo heart surgery).
Dr. Sandeep Attawar is also a trained pediatric cardiac surgeon with significant experience in treating neonates and children with complex heart disease, having operated over 400 neonates and approximately 3500 children with congenital heart defects, with procedures ranging from systemic to PA shunts, VSD closures, TAPVC repairs, Aorto pulmonary window, tetralogy corrections, conduit repairs for Pulmonary atresia, the Ross procedure in children and adults, interrupted aortic arch repairs and the arterial switch operation for D-TGA and Taussig Bing heart.

Dr. Sandeep Attawar completed his MBBS & M.S General Surgery and then completed M.Ch Cardiovascular surgery from Sri Chitra Tirunal Institute, Trivandrum. Dr. Sandeep has several papers, publications, and awards to his credit. He has 6 indexed publications and is one of the most experienced in India on beating heart and minimally invasive heart surgery. Dr Sandeep has presented more than 20 scientific papers and has given lectures in many institutions and universities across the globe
