Avenue Ace Top Spot at Street Dancer 2012

Bolton’s Avenue street dance troupe stormed into first place at this weekend’s Street Dancer competition at The Printworks. Before a panel of top judges, Avenue stole the show with their tight choreography leaving the judges speechless.

Aug. 28, 2012 - PRLog -- The 14 strong group all aged between 9 and 14 perform together at Sunshine Studios Dance Academy in Bolton and this Saturday they walked off with the £1000 prize money.  The performers are named Jessie Sou, Alice Grimes, Faye Close, Jack Pilkington, Tom Oakes, Kai Elcock, Mel Clarke, Faye Capstick, Jodie Kirkman, Pascha Jacobs, Elias Hughes, Jack McCluskey, Paisley Blake and Jade Lynch.

The day was action packed with ten finalists performing on stage plus highly anticipated performances from head judge Turbo (Got to Dance 2012 finalist) and Charles ‘Chuck’ Denton plus last year’s winners of the competition Soar INK.

Turbo was left speechless after the group’s performance;

“For me it was ten out of ten. I’m a massive fan and just cannot believe how tight your choreography is! It was so, so strong and it was an absolute pleasure to watch! I’m desperate to see more from you guys and I’m so excited that you will only get better.”

Lead judge Turbo who is more used to being centre stage gave his very best advice to the group. Turbo has previously performed with Madonna, Jamelia, Will Smith, Mis-teeq, Shaznay Lewis and has also been a backing dancer for Whitney Houston. He is also a street dance teacher himself and has recently been announced as a judge for CBBCs Alesha’s Street Dance Stars.

The group were overwhelmed with their win which will be put to very good use. They are due to perform in an International street dance competition in Italy so the £1000 prize money will be put towards flights for the group to be able to perform at the event.

Fred Booth Centre Director for The Printworks explained;

“Avenue are worthy winners of our Street Dancer winners crown. They brought The Printworks to a standstill and blew every single person away in the crowd. The group are all still young performers and I can’t wait to see what is around the corner for Avenue”.
