8th Miss Malibu Crowned August 19, 2012

Aug. 27, 2012 - PRLog -- MALIBU, CA (August 20, 2012) – One of Malibu’s most anticipated events, the 8th Annual Miss Malibu USA Pageant, was held at the prestigious Malibu Golf Club on Sunday, August 19, 2012.  The Pageant included 70 contestants between the ages of 14-26 years old that graced the stage against the backdrop of the Malibu canyons for the coveted title of Miss Malibu USA and Miss Malibu Teen USA. Contestants competed in three categories: Fede Swimwear, Evening Gown and Interview.  
E! News Correspondent David Burtka and Miss USA 2011 Alyssa Campanella hosted the event where they crowned the new queens Miss Malibu Teen USA 2013 - Chloe Hope Hatfield and Miss Malibu USA 2013 - Brittany McGowan.  In addition, this was the first time that a double crowning took place at an official Miss California USA preliminary pageant.  Joining the Malibu titleholders are the first ever Miss Beverly Hills USA 2013 Olivia Jordan and Miss Beverly Hills Teen USA 2013 Nadia Mejia.

Miss Malibu Teen USA 2013 Chloe Hatfield is a 17-year-old junior in High School that loves volunteering and wants to inspire people of all ages by being a role model and motivating others to give back. She is an avid sports fan that aspires to be a nurse, raise a family, and be happy.   Miss Malibu USA 2103 Brittany McGowan is an actress and model that hopes to achieve success both in front of and behind the camera.  After enjoying a career as an actress, she plans on becoming a Producer and Director.  She is also a published writer, and has developed a program for young women that will be implemented at the Boys & Girls Club later this year.  

16 year old model and Miss Beverly Hills Teen USA Nadia Mejia is the daughter of 90's singer Gerardo (aka Rico Suave) and former Miss West Virginia USA Kathy Lynn Mejia.  She hopes to one day expand her family’s non-profit organization, and be a positive influence among all of the people she surrounds herself with.   While her sister queen Miss Beverly Hills USA Olivia Jordan is a graduate of Boston University. She was the Director of Membership Development for her sorority. She is certified as a Personal Trainer and a Group Fitness Instructor. Aside from her acting and modeling career, Olivia aims to be a philanthropist and make an impact on the world.

Joining them in the top five for each age group were: Miss Contestants Kayla Brown (1st runner-up), Zulfia Manely (2nd runner-up) and Ginaya Greene (3rd runner-up); and Teen Contestants Hailee Harris (1st runner-up), Toneata Morgan (2nd runner-up) and Mackenzie Freed (3rd runner-up).  
The esteemed judges panel who selected the new queens included: Aubrey O’Day (Celebrity Apprentice), Meagan Tandy (Jane by Design, Miss California USA 2007), Rachel Federoff & Destin Pfaff (Millionaire Matchmaker), Shelley Fariello (Assoc. Producer of OK Magazine), Jefferson Wagner (Zuma Jay, former Mayor of Malibu), Peter Young (Owner of INTA Gems & Diamonds), Tiffany Bressnan Corbett (Owner of GirlEO), Mike Costache (President of Miss Romania Universe) and Thomas Hix (Managing Member of Malibu Golf Club).  The pageant featured special performances by singers Alli Davis and Hayley Fletcher (Miss Santa Monica USA 2013).  Guests were treated to a fantastic barbeque and wonderful wine at the Malibu & Vine Restaurant and Wine Bar before and after the pageant was the Winner’s Celebration Dinner.
