Attorney Hillary Freeman Named the 2012 Recipient of the Family Support Center Partnership Award

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug. 27, 2012 - On Thursday, September 27, 2012  the 2012 Family Support Center of New Jersey Community Partnership Award will be presented to Hillary D. Freeman, Esq. in recognition of her instrumental webinars, workshops, and IEP clinics that she has offered to Family Support Center families.

Hillary Freeman is an attorney who is deeply committed to representing people with disabilities and their family members. Having a brother with autism, Hillary is able to combine her own personal experiences with her legal education and training to help advocate for other families when seeking for support services. She frequently assists clients with special education matters and Section 504 issues, in addition to helping with higher education matters, some of which include accessing accommodations for high stakes testing and graduate school admissions tests. Hillary also helps clients obtain guardianship over their family members with special needs; prepare an estate plan that will protect the family member with special needs through the development of a long term care plan (including a special needs trust) and will help individuals with special needs access adult services. Hillary Freeman graduated from Widener University School of Law and practices in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

In addition to advocating on behalf of individuals with disabilities and their family members, Ms. Freeman frequently offers pro bono speaking engagements upon request on a number of topics including but not limited to: developmental disabilities such as Autism, Down Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy, learning disabilities, mental illness (Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia), behavioral disorders, traumatic brain injuries, mental retardation, and much more. She is also happy to speak on topics such as parental rights in special education, issues that may arise related to the special needs children of divorced parents, the roles and responsibilities of the IEP team, bullying across environments, guardianship, accessing adult services, estate planning and many more critical topics that directly impact the lives of those with disabilities and their loved ones.
