As Mervyn Dinnen, author of the article says ‘we spend so much time focusing on what need to be on our CV that sometimes it’s easy to forget that there are also things that have no place there’ so does Andreea Necula admits in seeing info in CV’s that are not necessarily putting the candidates in a good light.
The BlackCat Shop Managing Director says: When recruiters are screening CV’s they are always looking for the education and skills however even if these do match the criteria they might easily be put off by spelling errors , inappropriate photos or a Facebook link as a reference.
‘’I consider a CV to be a selling document’’, says Andreea Necula.  ‘’Everybody is doing sales nowadays: you’re either selling an item/product to make a profit or an idea to get funding for your business plan. Either way, whenever you have something to gain you put time and effort in preparing yourself with a brilliant presentation. Why wouldn’t you put the same time and effort into preparing the most important selling document of yourself: your CV? Your CV is the first document that companies and recruiters will read about you and you have to stand out from the crowd.’’
The MD of The BlackCat Shop provides three useful advices for anyone that is on a job hunt :
•   Attach a cover letter that is not vague. Try and quote a reference number, website or newspaper and specify to what job you are applying so it doesn’t sound like a mass produced letter that you can use for any kind of vacancies.
•   Personalise you CV and make it appropriate to the position you are applying for by enhancing the skills required in the advert and by adding the relevant work experience.  
•   Lose any gimmicks if you want to be taken seriously by companies and recruiters: stars and hearts have no place on your CV, as well as group photos or holiday pictures. Humour has it’s place , however do not take chances on job applications because it just demonstrates a clear lack of judgement.
Giving the fact that in the present climate recruiters can pick and choose due to the high demand, a CV is the most important document that speaks for a potential candidate. As a former recruiter , Andreea Necula advises on putting a lot more time and effort into it.
