This year the festival is launched in Chennai which will kick start the six city tour. In line with the festival’s ethos to champion new local and global talent, embracing traditional Indian culture with a contemporary twist, the 2012 edition will feature the world renowned dance company of Akram Khan (MBE), presenting ‘Gnosis’. One of the most acclaimed choreographers of his generation, Khan produces thoughtful, provocative and ambitious dance works for the international stage; Gnosis is sure to impress.
The New Festival will extend far beyond dance pieces featuring a number of breakout stars. Highlights include online sensation Shankar Tucker, a clarinettist/
Ranvir Shah, Founder Prakriti Foundation and the curator of the festival said “I am thrilled that despite a year of economic slowdown we have been successful to bring world class performers to India.
