PRLog (Press Release) - Aug. 28, 2012 - The Park’s New Festival in its sixth edition brings to the fore compelling acts by celebrated artists Akram Khan, Shankar Tucker and D’Lo. This year’s festival promises to be the most exciting event as yet. Organized by Prakriti Foundation and hosted by The Park Hotels in Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai and Kolkata, is India’s only contemporary performance arts festival.

This year the festival is launched in Chennai which will kick start the six city tour. Speaking on the occasion Ms. Priya Paul, Chairperson, Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels Ltd said, “The Park Hotels are globally known as pioneers in promoting contemporary art and culture. In this edition, the tour will start in Chennai and after travelling through major metros would culminate at New Delhi. In line with the festival’s ethos to champion new local and global talent, embracing traditional Indian culture with a contemporary twist, the 2012 edition will feature the world renowned dance company of Akram Khan (MBE), presenting ‘Gnosis’.  One of the most acclaimed choreographers of his generation, Khan produces thoughtful, provocative and ambitious dance works for the international stage; Gnosis is sure to impress.


The New Festival will extend far beyond dance pieces featuring a number of breakout stars. Highlights include online sensation Shankar Tucker, a clarinettist/composer, whose YouTube channel has accrued more than 2 million hits and the inimitable stand-up comedian D.Lo’s ‘D.FunQT’, whose comedic storytelling show shares hilarious and poignant snapshots of his world.
