PRLog - Aug. 27, 2012 - LAHAINA, Hawaii -- Under clear sunny skies, Lahaina Harbor greeted the 6am crowd of Maui Groms with a beautiful gift of glassy 1-3 foot waves, a small Southwest swell had filled in overnight.
Just over 100 Maui competitors, ranging from 5 – 17 years old, gathered to compete in the 2nd Annual Grom Magazine Lahaina Surf Bash, presented by Hurley. Competition was fun, as the young competitors displayed their strength while paddling for position in the line-up. Four to six competitors surfed with fierce focus thru 15- minute heats, throughout the day. The top 3 scores would advance to the next heat with hopes to make it into the 20 minute final. There were 4 winners for every division. Winners were awarded lots of prizes with merchandise and cash awards from supporting sponsors. The top prize - a round trip ticket to 2013 NSSA Nationals held in California (donated by Hurley). Local Lahaina Grom Kaimana Kinimaka, dominated again, coming off his victory at the Volcom Pufferfish contest last week at Lahaina Harbor, he earned his ticket to Nationals, as well as taking 1st in his division and winning the Expression – Air Show.
