A good way to help control your costs and build community is to go in with a couple of your neighbors to rent certain equipment that is needed to work in your yard. For instance, now is a great time to De-thatch your yard to get all the old grass and trash from the top layer. You could reach out to a couple of your neighbors and rent the Dethatching equipment, in agreement that in the next couple of weeks, they rent the Aerating Equipment.
Since most yards only take a very short amount of time to complete, if you rent the equipment for 35 - 50 dollars a day, you could easily partner up with 5 to 10 yards to knock these items out. You could have an e-mail chain or post it on the Facebook page for your community association to alert people to sign up for this program.
By doing this, the amount you pay is extremely small for much needed items around our house.
