Delhi BnB Owners Association Raises Important Issues for the Industry

The City had a meeting of its Bed and Breakfast Owners Association today at ‘Amaltas’ at the India Habitat Centre. The meeting was enthusiastically participated by almost a 100 Bed and Breakfast Owners.
 
Aug. 26, 2012 - PRLog -- (Press Release, Delhi: August 23, 2012):  The City had a meeting of its Bed and Breakfast Owners Association today at ‘Amaltas’ at the India Habitat Centre. The meeting was enthusiastically participated by almost a 100 Bed and Breakfast Owners. The meeting also had participation from Delhi Tourism and Transport Development Corporation that manages the Bed and Breakfast Scheme on behalf of the Government of NCT Delhi. The Association shared a number of concerns particularly relating to marketing the scheme, filling up the establishments, on line booking and the problems faced in accepting on line payments, compliances issues related to Form C requirements as regards foreign citizens, applicability of Service Tax to the industry and absence of suitable insurance products that could be applicable to the business. Of specific interest was an issue that though the scheme is sponsored by the Government of India as well as many of the state Governments, yet, many of the Government departments particularly defense are reluctant to reimburse bills of their staff on temporary duty that stays in such establishments.

Speaking on the occasion Mr Binay Bhushan General Manager DTTDC emphasized on the Government’s commitment to the scheme and the fact that DTTDC was committed to smoothening its processes and building value to the B and B scheme through initiatives such as a new directory, marketing support and central coordination. Mr Atul Khanna, President Delhi Bed and Breakfast Owners Association lauded the efforts of the Government and emphasized on the need for joint redressal of some of the issues highlighted above. Members also shared some interesting expertise sharing on issues of mutual interest such as on line payment gateways.
