Patna: As many as 500 students from Kidzee preschools in Patna had become part of ‘My Earth, My Duty’--- a nation-wide campaign to fight for environment causes. All visitors and onlookers were handed saplings, candles and newspaper bags by the students from Kidzee in exchange of the plastic packets they were carrying.
The week long campaign will observe more than 25,000 Kidzee students across the country, being educated about the need to protect our environment. Amongst an array of activities held by Kidzee preschools, the campaign also included parents and students signing the ‘Green Earth’ pledge to show their commitment to protect the environment. The students from Kidzee, India’s fastest growing chain of K12 schools participated in activities such as planting around 200 saplings in re-used bottles, decorated with stickers and making several newspaper bags.
“We are happy to be a part of this global initiative. I am glad to see so many children and their parents showing interest in saving the environment. The campaign promotes the habit of using biodegradable products. Through such an initiative we want to make the people aware of the environmental hazards and urge them to save the earth, “said Pradeep Pillai, Business Head, Kidzee.
Participants in the campaign were also encouraged to share their ideas on how to create a greener earth. Students of KIDZEE were also taught the ways to recycle the waste and turn them into useful objects. A competition was conducted for mothers to showcase their ideas on reuse of waste material. Students were also taught the benefits of planting the saplings at home. “We not only teach children useful craft but also educate them on the impact of pollution and waste has on our planet,” said Anupam Srivastava, National Head, Kidzee.
