The Point Lookout Art Show was founded in 1969 by Ann Cavanagh and Loretta Nester. These talented women coordinated the show for the next sixteen years. After they retired, Kathy Gee Lechler guided the show for the next two years. Most recently, Tom Bauer of Point Artworks and Leigh Gomez of the Framing Edge have coordinated the show. The Art Show is the last legacy of the Point Lookout Community Theatre who held the first show in 1969.
This years commemorative poster utilizes the artwork from the inaugural poster in 1969 and was provided by Historian Don Kelly of The Point Lookout Historical Society. The Historical Society will also display an traveling exhibition about the Long Beach Marine Railway, which served Lido Beach and Point Lookout around the turn of the century.
The event is sponsored annually by the Point Lookout Civic Association in conjunction with the Point Lookout, NY Chamber of Commerce. Anyone who would like to participate is welcome to contact Leigh Gomez at The Framing Edge 516-432-5736.
