Final Rule for ICD-10 Announced by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services

This final rule changes the compliance date for the International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM) for diagnosis coding from October 1, 2013 to October 1, 2014.

Aug. 24, 2012 - PRLog -- Effective November 5, 2012, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) adopts a change to the compliance date for the ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS medical data code sets from October 1, 2013 to October 1, 2014.

Physicians, coders, office managers, consultants, and others have been tasked with developing a roadmap for ICD-10 integration within their organizations, and many don’t know where to begin. Contexo University has developed eLearning courses that makes preparation and study of the ICD-10 guidelines easy, and allows medical professionals to assess their readiness for ICD-10 implementation.

“The complexity of ICD-10 will challenge existing coding and documentation norms within the healthcare industry,” says Bradden Blair, Dean of Education for Contexo University.  He adds, “While many are concerned about being adequately prepared for ICD-10 implementation, few objective assessment tools have been developed to accurately measure ICD-10 readiness.  We’ve gone to great lengths to make sure our products meet the diverse needs of the coding/billing market and expect this product to greatly simplify the planning and training process for our customers.”

Contexo University training and eLearning courses include:
•   ICD-10 Preparation Analyzer
•   Understanding and Preparing for ICD-10
•   ICD-10 Preparation for Healthcare Professionals: The CM and PCS Guidelines
•   Anatomy and Terminology Essentials
•   Mastering ICD-10 Coding for Specialties
•   Best Practices for ICD-10-CM Documentation and Compliance
•   And more

Working with the ICD-10 code set will require training for office staff and physicians alike. To know where medical professionals are in the scheme of training for ICD-10 is half the battle, training and courses from Contexo University will allow professionals to hit the ground running once the implementation date hits.  Rely on Contexo University to help you assess understanding of the CM and PCS guidelines and identify gaps in the preparation of ICD-10 – so that there are no surprises later.
