KINGSPORT, Tenn. - The Kingsport Office of Small Business Development & Entrepreneurship (KOSBE) and the Tennessee Small Business Development Center (TSBDC) at ETSU will host a FREE Small Business Packaging Class – The Silent Salesman on Tuesday, September 25 from 9 – 11 a.m., at your Kingsport Chamber of Commerce, 400 Clinchfield Street, Ste. 100, downtown Kingsport.
The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
Too many small businesses are unaware of the impact their packaging is having on their sales, operations, and financials. Flashy and complex designs can distract customers from the quality of the product itself. Packaging that is not production-friendly can take away from a small business’s precious cash flow. However, when done right, packaging can sell the product all by itself.
This class will cover a volume of topics including but not limited to: best practices of packaging design and display, how to keep your packaging simple, how to reduce packaging costs, how to make a package production-friendly, POP displays, retail development, branding, and eco-sustainability.
“This class was designed to make small business owners think about how packaging is their silent salesman and what their packaging is saying about their company and products.” said, Aundrea Wilcox, senior business counselor with the Tennessee Business Development Center at East Tennessee State University Kingsport Affiliate Office and executive director of KOSBE.  “Packaging can make or break a sale, as we know, and unfortunately we do still judge a book by its cover, so the best packaging sells. This class is designed to help small business owners do just that - create greener, more attention-grabbing, and more cost-effective packaging.”
Facilitating the class are industry experts, Tina Hogue, marketing manager, and Clint Estep, sales consultant, from Triad Packaging Design and Display headquartered in Bristol, TN. Triad Packaging has been successfully providing full-service packaging solutions since its inception in 1984.
The event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. Advanced registration is required and must be received by September 23, 2012. Anyone interested can register online at kosbe.org or call (423) 392-8825 for more information.
