Aug. 23, 2012 - PRLog -- AFS-USA is proud to announce it is offering the Vaya a América Scholarship - high school study abroad scholarships to study in Argentina or Costa Rica.

These merit-based scholarships will cover half of the tuition of a spring semester or year long program to Costa Rica or Argentina. Recipients will be competitively selected based on academic achievement, and a demonstrated interest in Latin American culture and intercultural learning. However no previous Spanish experience is required.

Students attending the AFS program in Argentina or Costa Rica have an unparalleled opportunity to dive into those countries’ cultures. They’ll live with a host family, attend a local high school, and travel to other cities or regions. Participants return with advanced language skills, a greater understanding of international issues, and an expanded social network that spans the globe.

Austen Boyce, a recipient of the Vaya a América Scholarship last year, said this about the program: “The AFS exchange greatly changed me as a person. I have become much more outgoing and confident, able to appreciate different cultures, and more willing to participate in new experiences.”

AFS-USA is still accepting applications for this life changing scholarship opportunity. Applicants must submit essays and complete the AFS online application by September 10th, 2012.
