The goal of the redesign was to move the site to a platform that is more flexible and extensible. TYR Sport can now fully manage its site and set and deploy its marketing initiatives internally, according to Bart Mroz, CEO of SUMO Heavy Industries.
SUMO Heavy did all the heavy backend lifting of the project, which was designed by Philadelphia branding firm Quaker City Mercantile. SUMO Heavy provided TYR with Magento development and full e-commerce replatforming. It also provided custom third-party logistics integration, ERP integration and full data import.
The TYR Custom Goggle program is a fun and creative customer experience for swimmers of all ages and skill sets. The customer visiting the site is prompted to choose a goggle of their choice and from there on the possibilities are endless. With the ability to select from up to 10 different colors for each individual component – the frame, frame locks, gaskets, strap, strap adjusters along with lens color – the combinations are infinite. One can then complete their custom masterpiece by laser etching up to 15-20 characters (depending on the goggle style) onto the lens. Customers can save their completed goggle design in the My Account section of the website, complete with thumbnail image. Because the Goggle Builder was created entirely in HTML5 and Javascript, it works across all platforms, including tablets and mobile phones.
“Custom Goggle Builder is a highly interactive feature of the site. Not only does it let customers choose the exact style and colors they want, but it gets them to engage with the brand in a way a typical e-commerce site doesn’t allow,” says Mroz.
The project wasn’t without its challenges. “We had less than six weeks to implement full design, development, integration into Magento, integration and setup into ERP system, and set up into EDI (Electronic Data Interchange)
