King Akbar ruled as the Mughal emperor between 1542 -1605. He was the third Mughal emperor to rule India. He was known as Akbar the great for his contributions to art architecture and music. He used to keep learned and intelligent people as his advisors. These were called his Navrtans (Nine Jewels). Birbal ( Mahesh Das) was one among them. He helped Akbar in military and administrative affairs. But he was well known and appreciated for his wit and wisdom.
Many stories have been written about the wit and wisdom of Birbal and form a part of a rich folklore of India. These will enthrall the young and old listeners alike.
