London Business School professor awarded for article

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug. 23, 2012 - Lakshmanan Shivakumar, professor of Accounting at London Business School was presented with the Emerald Management Reviews Citations of Excellence Awards for 2012 for his article ‘Earnings quality at initial public offerings.’ The article’s content and applicability was applauded by many. Prof Shivakumar’s research interests include market efficiency, earnings quality and return predictability. He has been a visiting fellow at several universities including: Australian National University, University of Madras, and University of Chicago. A well regarded professor by students and colleagues alike, Lakshanan has also been presented with teaching excellence awards.

The article focuses on initial public offering (IPO) firms and states that they conduct their financial reporting in a more conservative manner. This is due to the demand placed on public sector firms to make their reporting extremely comprehensive. Since its release, the paper has been a huge success due to the influence it has had – so much so that it is one of the top 50 articles that has made an impact.
