Church of Scientology of Tampa Offers Open Houses & Free Entertainment During the RNC

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug. 22, 2012 - Ybor City, FL: Due to its proximity to the key center of the 2012 Republican National Convention Event Zone, the Church of Scientology of Tampa will be hosting three evenings of open houses and entertainment at their facility, the historic Ybor Square. The events are an extension of Ybor City’s reputation for hospitality and will provide an alternative to the night club scene. There is no cost to attend. All events will start at 6pm and go through until 10pm. Refreshments will be served.

   Monday, August 27th: Ybor Square Open House: Guided tours of the former Ybor-Manrera Cigar Factory and self-guided tours of the Church of Scientology’s Public Information Center. Live music provided by the Flag Band.

   Tuesday, August 28th: Sunscreen Film Festival Presents an Evening of Short Indie Films. The Sunscreen Film Festival, now in its 8th year has continually showcased the best in shorts, documentaries and up and coming independent films. This selection of short films (3 – 20 minutes in length) was hand selected by the Festival Director and will show a wide variety of genres.
   Wednesday, August 29th: Ybor Square Open House, featuring a theatrical reading of the L. Ron Hubbard Short Story “Murder Afloat”, tours of the facility and refreshments. Live music from 7pm – 8pm.
   The Church of Scientology of Tampa will also be holding regular open houses at the Church daily from 10am until 10pm. Tours include our Public Information Center, which will answer people's questions about Scientology and our community outreach programs, including The Way to Happiness, a non-religious, common sense moral code written by L. Ron Hubbard.

   Ybor Square is located between two protest parks. Weather permitting, groups of volunteers will be distributing The Way to Happiness booklets, which has been shown to keep the environment calm. Booklets have been distributed in places such as the recent World Cup and the Olympic Games, resulting in a safer environment for the attendees.
