Aug. 22, 2012 - PRLog -- Harlingen, Texas -   The International Cat Association (TICA) and FELIDAE Natural Cat Foods have partnered to bring the diverse world of cats to one stage as over 50 recognized breeds from TICA will be taking to the cat walk each day during the Parade of Breeds at AKC Meet the Breeds® in New York City on October 20 and 21 at Javits Center.

Felidae is sponsoring TICA’s Parade of Breeds on the main cat stage at Meet the Breeds.  With over 50 recognized breeds, the diversity of type, shape, and personality to the many styles of cats will be demonstrated and explained by an expert panel of distinguished TICA judges. Cat  lovers will learn why the Abyssinian has an iridescent glow to the color of its coat, the history behind the Turkish Vans love of water, and if the Savannah cat “really does have an eye on the back of each ear”.Visitors will also see breeds of cats representing felines from around the world including the Russian Federations Siberian, the Dalles Oregon LaPerm Cat, and Thailand’s blue cat, the Korat.

“These are not your grandmothers’ cats, as some breeds are downright manly,” said Vickie Fisher, President of TICA, the world’s largest genetic registry of domestic cat breeds. “so don’t worry about being considered cat crazy if you want more than one after experiencing the variety and versatility to the world of felines recognized by TICA.”

In addition to meeting and playing with a large variety of TICA pedigreed felines, cat lovers attending Meet the Breeds will have the chance to:
•   Visit over 50 cat breed booths where you can meet and play with real cats, talking to their owners and breeders, learning more about the breed, its history and their unique personality

•   Receive your collectible edition of the 2012 TICA Visitor Guide.  It includes information about all of the pedigreed cats at Meet the Breeds with colored pictures and breed descriptions, tips on cat care, exhibiting your cat at a TICA show and opportunities for children in our Junior Showmanship class, plus much more

“We’re so excited that FELIDAE Natural Cat Foods is partnering with TICA so we can bring more cats and offer more fun activities for cat lovers to enjoy at this year’s Meet the Breeds,” said Fisher.  “TICA and FELIDAE both feel Meet the Breeds is the paramount event for us to show our love for all cats and educate cat lovers about cat welfare in a fun way and also allow them to meet their favorite breeds up close and personal.”

Meet the Breeds will be open  Saturday, October 20 and Sunday, October  21, 2012 from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. Tickets for Meet the Breeds can be reserved in advance online at www.MeettheBreeds.com. Advance tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children.
