Slowly walk around your structure and look for water wicking up in the foundation from saturated soil. Look at drywall around skylights and windows that looks soiled or stained; look at Stucco buckling and cracked or just doesn’t look right.  Overflowing gutters are another source of water damage. Also, check structural wood for evidence of dry rot and mold damage. Termites entering the home or building can thrive on the water and wood and accelerate wood rot. Concrete breaking at the foundation or structural walls is called spalling. Spalling is a result of water entering brick, concrete or natural stone and forcing the surface to peel, pop out or flake off. This is due to corrosion and the swelling of the structure will break and damage the structural support. These are all signs of water intrusion and ultimately cause damage that will need repair.
