Follow on Google News | The Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior announces Mid-Career Award at Annual ConferenceThe Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior (SNEB) announces that Sarah Colby, PhD, RD, has received the Mid-Career Award. The award was presented at the 45th SNEB Annual Conference, “Nutrition Education: Energy from Synergy" in Washington, DC
Dr. Colby currently teaches at the University of Tennessee while continuing to work with student education and the development of novel nutrition strategies. Her latest project was a successful social marketing campaign involving multiple student organizations. Her passion for working with young people was highlighted in her nomination and evident in a Best GEM award received in 2007 for applying a theater strategy with low-income, newly-arrived Latino youth while pursuing her doctoral degree at the University of North Carolina her work. Her SNEB volunteer positions include chair of the Public Health Division in 2010 along with being an abstract reviewer in 2010. Colby began serving on the Advisory Committee on Public Policy as a member of the Food Labeling Subcommittee from 2008 - 2010. She continued serving as a committee member in 2010 and chair-elect in 2011. She began her term as chair of the SNEB Advisory Committee on Public Policy in August. This award is presented to a member who has achieved significant professional accomplishments in the field of nutrition education as well as important contributions to the mission of the SNEB while being in mid-career.
