Aug. 22, 2012 - PRLog -- New York, NY - This September, virtuoso-folk band The Tres Amigos will launch a four-part music series called “The Spicy Special” at The Living Room in the Lower East Side, NYC. Fresh off a 14-state national tour, the band returns home with its acrobatic arrangements and authentic live show to release their second full-length record to family, friends and fans.

“Our music is an educational melting pot of American genres. Much like the food-fusion trend in this country, our band studies how influences from around the world blend together and we choose certain aspects of that to create our own musical dishes that entertain our fans,” says vocalist and accordionist Sam Reider. “We are technical players but our music is accessible. Our goal is for people to understand where it comes from.”

The “Spicy Special” is a 4-part series and residency at The Living Room in the Lower East Side.
The first night of “The Spicy Special” kicks off with Country/Bluegrass on Monday, September 3rd (Labor Day) at 8 pm and will feature special guests Jon Sholle (guitar/mandolin) and Larry Wexler (harmonica).

The second evening will be Jazz Night on Monday, September 10th at 8 PM featuring special guest Amy Cervini (country/jazz singer).

The third installment will be held on Blues/Gospel and More on Monday, September 17th, 7 pm featuring special guests Jay Collins (Levon Helm Band and Allman Brothers Band) Brianna Thomas (Wynton Marsalis), Bennett Sullivan and Michael Thurber (founder of YouTube phenomenon CDZA).

The fourth (and final) installment of the series will be the band’s official Melting Pot Night including their CD Release Party on Friday, September 28th, 9 pm and will feature special guests Art Baron, Brianna Thomas, Bennett Sullivan, and Michael Thurber.

The Tres Amigos are a three-piece band comprised of Sam Reider (vocals/accordion), Eddie Barbash (vocals/saxophone/percussion) and Justin Poindexter (vocals/guitar). They are closely linked to Blue Note Records Musician Jonathan Batiste (Blue Note Records) and were recently selected to perform as part of the Lincoln Center Atrium Series. In June they kicked off the inaugural Music Academy of the American South festival in performances with New Orleans' Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Grammy-winning songwriter Jim Lauderdale, and bluegrass legends Tony Rice and Del McCoury.
