JDRF is a global organization which focuses on type 1 diabetes research. Founded in 1970, their mission is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through that research and through advocacy. Originally known as the "Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation", JDRF has refocused their attentions on helping all people afflicted with type 1 diabetes to live healthier, safer and easier lives.
Participants in the tournament will be given a tour of the Detroit Lions' locker rooms. The tournament will take place directly on the playing field. The fundraiser is expected to raise upwards of $2000, which will be put towards the diabetes research.
"We're excited to take part in the tournament this weekend. Diabetes is one of those diseases that affects everyone in our office-whether its the employees, their family members or friends, everyone knows someone who has diabetes. That just makes the importance of our fundraiser hit a little closer to home for us," said Sam Striker, President of K Marketing Group, Inc. "We like to get involved in philanthropic endeavors, and JDRF is a worthy cause."
