Kean Theatre Kicks Off 10th Season with "Born Yesterday"

Garson Kanin's comedy is slated for September 21-30, 2012 at the Kean Theatre

(Richland Twp.), August 21, 2012 – The Kean Theatre, 5847 Meridian Road, is celebrating its 10th Anniversary with a season of popular concerts, hilarious interactive dinner theatre shows and award-winning plays and show-stopping musicals including “Born Yesterday” which will be staged in September. Show time is 8 p.m. September 21, 22, 28 and 29.  Cost is $23.  The Kean Theatre is now inviting theatre goers to enjoy a delicious dinner on-site in the elegant Mount Vernon Restaurant before each show at 6:30 p.m.; cost for dinner and the show is $51.  Sunday matinees will be staged at 2 p.m. September 23 and 30.  Cost is $21.  An optional luncheon will take place at the Kean Theatre’s Mount Vernon Restaurant at 12:30 p.m.; cost for lunch and the show is $43. An uncouth, corrupt rich junk dealer, Harry Brock, brings his showgirl mistress Billie Dawn with him to Washington D.C.  When Billie’s ignorance becomes a liability to Brock’s business dealings, he hires a journalist, Paul Verrall, to educate his girlfriend. Through her education Billie realizes Harry’s corruptness, how she has been used and that she is not as dumb as she once thought. In the Kean Theatre production Whitney Anne Jenkins of Butler is cast as Billie Dawn and Mike Regan of Hampton Twp. as Harry Brock. Casey Bowser of Butler is playing Paul Verrall. Patrick Shiner of Monroeville is playing Ed Devery. Eddie Brock is played by Chris Bondi of Hampton Twp. Bob Meals of Butler is playing Senator Norval Hedges and Susan Allardice of Bradford Woods is the Mrs. Hedges. Helen is played by Chrissy Zuemie of Cranberry Twp. “Born Yesterday” is directed and produced by Tom Madden, managing and artistic director of the Kean Theatre.

Proceeds from the Kean Theatre benefit the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund, which in 2011 alone provided
more than $5.2 million to poor and low-income residents at St. Barnabas Nursing Home, Valencia Woods at St. Barnabas and The Arbors at St. Barnabas.
