According to Ms. Swati Salunkhe,
"In this competitive landscape, a student needs to differentiate himself from countless resumes. Typically HR & Business managers of global firms prefer candidates who demonstrate specialized skill set and have practical knowledge. There are Professional institutes which helps students to get industry relevant training thereby enabling them to find rewarding careers in global firms."
For careers in finance, students have a very vague understanding about the opportunities and the niche segments that they could enter. A survey was conducted by Imarticus Learning with 500 students across Mumbai and it was observed that 31% of respondents did not know what investment banking is, whereas 66% had very little understanding of the sector and support services. Though unaware, 53% of the respondents were interested in having a career in Investment Banking. Further to it, 82% of respondents were interested in additional training that will improve their job prospects. The results indicate lack of clarity on the sector and the job profiles, but it also highlights the readiness of students to take professional training if it can provide them with better job opportunities.
This discussion on “Careers in Finance” would be followed up by Imarticus Learning sharing their insights on “Specialized Careers in Finance & IT”.
Imarticus Learning is a premier institute offering industry relevant programs which could help students realize their dream of having a rewarding career in the Finance & IT streams.
To ensure that students get first hand exposure to the corporate world – there will be senior executives from the Investment Banking world to counsel the students and share the highlights of their career.
Ms. Sonya Hooja, Director & Co-Founder, Imarticus Learning says “Lack of awareness about careers in finance has driven us to conduct such workshops where we invite renowned counselors like Ms. Swati Salunkhe to help the students make informed career decisions. Swati being an experienced career counselor understands the aspirations of the students, helps them overcome their doubts and imparts knowledge about various opportunities. With this seminar, Swati along with Imarticus helps students to bridge the gap between their skill set and their journey to the global investment banking firms. We aim to contribute towards elevating the skill levels of the aspiring students and job seekers thereby increasing their employability.”
“In spite of having the largest youth population in India, there is a dire need of quality skilled professionals. Careers in banking and finance could be an attractive option considering, the current human resource requirement in BFSI segment is 4.3 million and is expected to reach 8.5 million by 2022 as per a report by FICCI. ” added Ms. Hooja.
