Slum Village Speaks Volumes for Sickle Awareness with #1ViralVoice

No stranger to the emotional impact of health issues in the African American community Slum Village has suffered the loss of two group members since their 1996 introduction to the music industry.

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug. 22, 2012 - September is Sickle Cell Awareness month. Detroit based rap group Slum Village has joined the Sickle Cell Thalassemia Patients Network’s #1ViralVoice campaign as spokespersons for Sickle Cell Awareness. During the September leg of the Slum Village tour  the group will be using their voice to speak volumes for Sickle Cell Awareness.

No stranger to the  emotional impact of health issues in the African American community  Slum Village has suffered the loss  of two group members since their 1996 introduction to the music industry. Slum Village is an advocate for health care  and creating conversation around health issues in the hip-hop community.

As spokespersons for #1ViralVoice the group  will be using digital platforms such as blogs and social media to outlets to garner support for the cause.In addition they have planned a series of  social events and traditional  media interviews.

September tours dates include West Hollywood, San Francisco and New York City.

Sickle Cell Thalassemia Patients Network (SCTPN) was incorporated in 1993 as a volunteer, not-for-profit organization by its founding members (adults living with sickle cell disease, thalassemia and other hemoglobin disorders) to serve the larger community by providing a face and a voice for these underrepresented health issues.
