Aug. 22, 2012 - PRLog -- The Great Britain Minigolf Sport Team will be competing in the upcoming EMF European Minigolf Championships taking place in Porto, Portugal from the 29th August to the 1st September. Teams from fifteen countries and a total of 124 players will be competing in the tournament held on the two 18-hole Minigolf courses at the Clube de Minigolfe do Porto.

The BMGA Great Britain Minigolf Team for the 2012 EMF European Championships is as follows:
•   Marc Chapman, England, Kent Minigolf Club
•   Freddie Blackburn-Shaw, Scotland
•   Adam Kelly, England, Kent Minigolf Club
•   Tony Kelly, England, Kent Minigolf Club
•   James Rutherford, England, Cambridgeshire Mini Golf Club
•   Seth Thomas, England, Cambridgeshire Mini Golf Club

Great Britain Team Manager Marc Chapman said "I'm delighted with this year's team for the European Championships in Porto. It provides an excellent opportunity to blood some of the top junior players on the continental course types and against world-class nations. Three juniors will make their International debuts at this event. The focus will be on learning how to play these unfamiliar types of playing surface and to help improve their mental game. Having said that, I am sure that each individual will set their own personal goals in terms of playing performance and will push themselves hard over the duration of the event. The skills they learn at this stage of their playing careers should create a strong foundation for the future, which can only be a good thing for the development of Minigolf in the UK and for the standard of our National Team."

The Great Britain Minigolf Team will again be sponsored by UrbanCrazy. Based in London, UrbanCrazy is an innovative and exciting company, designing and building permanent and portable Crazy Golf, Mini Golf and Adventure Golf courses and supplying a wide range of Miniature Golf accessories.

UrbanCrazy’s Jon Angel said “It is an honour and a privilege to once again be supporting our team at a major international competition. The European Championships in Porto will provide a fantastic opportunity for our players to test themselves against the best in Europe - and is the next step towards our advancement on the world minigolf sport scene. We wish our six lions every success.”

British Minigolf Association Chairman Sean Homer said “I am delighted that Great Britain will be represented by a full Men’s team in Porto. The group has a nice mix of experienced players along with those making their debuts on the International stage such as our top juniors Adam, Freddie and Seth. All of them have a tremendous amount of skill and passion for Minigolf and I know they will put on a great show when the tournament tees-off at the end of the month. Everyone involved in the BMGA wish them well and I have no doubt that they will do us proud. Above all I hope they thoroughly enjoy the opportunity and experience of playing in such a big event as the European Championships and look forward to following their progress once the competition gets underway.”
