Burke Goes Back to School with Classroom Central

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug. 21, 2012 - Charlotte, NC – It’s back to school season … even at Burke! In support of Charlotte’s Classroom Central, Burke Communications donated 245 items to the 2012 School Tools drive. The collected supplies will serve high-poverty schools in the local districts, ensuring that every child, regardless of their economic status, will have the essential supplies to support their academic and personal growth.

“Classroom Central’s mission is one that is really hits home for our Burke team because at some point, all of our designers and creative staff started out with markers, crayons, and glue sticks, too,” says Burke’s President and CEO, Jack Burke. “Having the ability to equip students with these same tools for success and creativity is something we are very proud to support.”

Burke and its employees donated a total of 245 items to the drive, which included all the essentials from pens and pencils to backpacks and tissues. All total, 60 erasers,  50 pens, 40 pencils, 18 highlighters, 15 glue sticks, 14 pocket folders, 14 packs of markers, 11 packs of ruled paper,  11 packs of crayons, 7 backpacks, 3 Rulers, 3 Packs of tissues , 2 packs of colored pencils, 2 pumps of hand-sanitizer , and 1 pack of dry erase markers were collected.

“No parent wants to send their child to school empty-handed,” says Classroom Central’s Communications Director, Sarah Porter, “When businesses and community members donate, they are giving children living in poverty a chance to learn, dream big and realize their full potential.  We want to surround those students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve success.”
