Jorge Bendersky Presents “There is no Poop Fairy” Workshop

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug. 21, 2012 - There are many reasons on why it is important to clean up after our pets. On Saturday, August 25, 2012 the “There is no Poop Fairy in East Harlem” Campaign will be held at the Jefferson Park Recreation Center on 112 Street and First Avenue in East Harlem, New York City. The event will take place from 10:00a.m- 1:00p.m. The launching of the campaign along with the various informative workshops will give attendees information, tips and advice regarding responsible pet ownership. Attendees will also have the privilege and opportunity to meet celebrity dog groomer, Jorge Bendersky during the workshop as well.

In response to a growing number of dog poop piles, and a growing number of constituent complaints, Council Member Melissa Mark-Viverito took a page from the very successful “There is no Poop Fairy Campaign” introduced by the Jefferson County Animal Control office in Colorado, to address this serious health hazard with humor; as a means to encourage dog owners to pick up after their dogs in our parks and neighborhoods.

At the “There is no Poop Fairy” workshop, Jorge will be explaining and demonstrating the importance of properly grooming our pets to ensure a longer and healthier life. There will be many animal organizations joining on Saturday and other exciting events happening throughout the day which will include; The Jefferson Dog Park Run, the ASPCA Workshop, Animal Control and Care Workshop, Search and Care and much more. Guests will have the opportunity to win prizes, tee-shirts, raffles, give-a-ways and one lucky grand prize winner will walk away with a visit to a private veterinarian for their pet!

Said Councilwoman Melissa Mark-Viverito; “Unattended dog waste is a health hazard that has serious consequences for humans and dogs alike.  This initiative, surely one of the more unique ones my office has engaged in, has the goal of educating our community and encouraging dog owners to be responsible and pick-up after their pets.  We are very grateful to have the support of Jorge Bendersky and the various city agencies who are all working collectively to launch this educational project.”
