Speaking on the customized SaaS (Security as a Service) solutions, Mr Pramoud Rao, Promoter and Managing Director, Zicom Electronic Security Systems said: “Zicom SaaS has been designed to bridge the gap between technology and the consumers by providing end-to-end security solutions that ensure proper usage of the products with back-end support system, as per the needs of each customer- the big business complex, residential societies or even individual houses. In the case of Kamala Mills project we are confident that this Implementation of Security cover will instill a strong sense of “FEEL SAFE” in thousands of employees working in this complex allowing them to focus on their core tasks. ”
Kamala Mills comprises of 18 Commercial Towers and an equally impressive number of Corporate Offices, many of which have their own security systems. The requirement was primarily to make the compound ‘feel safe’ in their surroundings by providing trespasser monitoring, identification and subsequent reduction of false alarms, vehicle access management system and Zicom’s specialized, tailored and state-of-the-
Based on the site survey & the requirements of Kamala Mills management, a solution was drawn up with the aim to provide complete electronic surveillance to monitor trespassing, unauthorized car parking and suspicious movements & activities. 18 IP cameras were installed in the elevators and 42 in the common areas, car parks, gates etc. Connecting the cameras is a 24x7 Command & Control Centre, set up in the complex itself and manned by trained operators in shifts, which will control and monitor the feed from all the 60 cameras to ensure a safer environment.
The Control & Command Center is fully safe & secure, equipped with Zicom’s Fire Alarm System and offers restricted entry to bonafide operators and authorized personnel only to avoid tampering with the video. The system is equipped with adequate redundancy built-in with appropriate power back- up for uninterrupted video surveillance. The server has a 4 terabyte hard drive with a 4 GB RAM and is equipped with VMS Software for ease of operation. RFID tags would be mounted on the windscreens on the authorized vehicles with long range readers (5-8 mts) to provide access across the automated boom barriers set up at the 4 gates.
All cameras are capable of taking good quality video at 30 frames per second. At this frame rate it is very easy to tell what is happening at real time with the various movement options in the cameras like pan, tilt and zoom.
The system allows communication between the operator at the command centre and the security supervisor in the premises in case an alarm is sounded or a suspicious activity is observed. This prompts quick reaction to any event and reduction of false alarms. Due to the rise in prank calls, the Monitoring Unit is a perfect foil to such activities.
The Vehicle Access Management System serves the dual purpose of restricting entry to only authorized vehicles, thereby reducing the security risks posed by entry of unauthorized vehicles. The IP camera at the gates records the entry and exit of the vehicles, thereby providing an Audit Trail in event of any untoward event.
