Learn about Fire Safety for your homes at the LAPP Pavilion

Chennai, 21st August 2012: LAPP INDIA– a leading supplier of integrated wire, cabling and connector products and solutions will be celebrating the 60th year of Indo–German diplomatic relations by participating in the Indo-German Urban Mela. LAPP INDIA will present fire safety techniques alongside display of cables to ensure safe homes and safe cities at the Indo-German Urban Mela in Chennai from 24th August – 2nd September 2012 at YMCA College of Physical Education, Nandanam, Chennai.

Rapid urbanization has escalated the need for quality infrastructure in cities. Increased number of buildings, malls, houses and offices have created a connected society dependent on wires and cables. With nearly 15% of the accidents taking place due to poor wiring, prevention of fire mishaps is an increasing necessity. At the pavilion, LAPP INDIA will engage and educate visitors, through activity based events emphasizing the importance of using the right kind of cables and wires.

Also, on display would be LAPP INDIA's Halogen Free Flame Retardant (HFFR) wires and cables that stop flame propagation through the sockets in which they are laid. In addition, they would also showcase Fire Survival (FS) cables, which provide protection against short circuit even while burning under fire. Visitors can see for themselves at LAPP INDIA Pavilion and learn from displays by students of R V College of Engineering at the Lapp Centre of Excellence.

Explaining this, Mr. Srinivas K.P, Managing Director at LAPP INDIA said, "The big task is to make our cities safer, secure and more liveable by installing quality wire and cables. The focus of the Indo-German Urban Mela being 'City Spaces', provides us an ideal platform to spread awareness about Fire Safety and safe cabling. The LAPP Pavilion will have interactive displays, games and quizzes to increase your knowledge on Fire Safety in your Homes."

Adding further, he said, "The Pavilion will specifically educate visitors on the importance of safe cabling for homes and the Halogen Free Flame Retardant (HFFR) cables and wires. These cables not only stops flame propagation but also reduces fatality caused due to emission of toxic gases during a fire."
