Survey: More ORs Turning to Health IT to Improve Patient Care

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug. 20, 2012 - A recent survey commissioned by Surgical Information Systems of Alpharetta, Georgia, reveals that health information technology (Health IT) will be the key to success in operating rooms across the U.S. The survey, which was conducted by Penn Shoen Berland, indicates that more and more operating rooms are turning to health IT amid rising caseloads to increase efficiency, reduce costs, manage work flow and improve the quality of patient care. The survey solicited responses from over 140 senior hospital executives nationwide. The following are just some of the reported results:

-Almost 50 percent reported that their OR case volume has increased within the past year.
-Nearly 73 percent anticipate increased case loads over the next three years.
-Roughly 80 percent of hospital executives believe health IT will increase successful outcomes in the OR.
-A whopping 96 percent of responders believe that health IT is important in recruiting highly qualified doctors and medical personnel.

Clearly, the survey demonstrates that health IT is poised to expand in ORs throughout the nation in the coming years.
