Turning Fashion Into Performance Art-- Emporio dei Giovani Celebrates Fashion’s Night Out Miami

Aug. 20, 2012 - PRLog -- On Thursday, September 6, 2012, Emporio dei Giovani, a high end fashion line consisting of elite awarded designers from Italy will present their fashion designs as living art through performance as a celebration for Fashion's Night Out Miami 2012 from 6pm to 10pm at LMNT.

Performance art is an artistic discipline that awakens the mind by depicting truth and immediacy in art engaging the viewer and the artist’s creativity. It has been primarily neglected in recent years, only to be revived by actor and artist, James Franco and relived by the likes of John Lennon’s legendary muse Yoko Ono. However, in fashion such an undertaking is unheard of and relatively new.

Working with two different artists, Mr. Emilio Aponte, an artist with theatrical underpinnings known for his cutting edge work in the Ribbon Project and Mr. Alejandro Quintero, a professional fashion and artistic photographer who has worked with the likes of Miss Universe Canada and Miss Colombia 2007, Emporio dei Giovani sets the stage to present “Numina.”

“It is a creation of Fellinesque proportions in which art, form and space are intertwined with design,” related Ms. Ailyn Diaz, Director of Communications for the fashion line and creative director of the performance art piece.

“Numina” is based on ancient Roman philosophy. It defines the moment in which the influence perceptible by the mind guides the course of events. As Greek philosophy penetrated through ancient Rome, the formless spirits or “numina” took shape into gods, goddesses and muses. Within the performance art piece, the transformation takes place in human design as models mold with the fashion.

Five locally renown high fashion models will debut as performance artists in the show. The model artists include Ms. Ashley Von, Ms. Lydia Ramos, Ms. Patricia Ysabella Suarez, Ms. Stephanie Martinez and Ms. Rosaura Oliveras.
