Aug. 20, 2012 - PRLog -- Georgetown, S.C. – Labor Day weekend brings barbecue, outdoor fun and the promise of one last summer excursion, but for health-care workers it also means a heightened demand for blood.

To meet that need, HealthPoint Center for Health and Fitness is holding a blood drive Friday, Aug. 31, at Pawleys Island.

Sponsored by Georgetown Hospital System, the drive will take place from 12:30 – 5:30 p.m. in the blood mobile in HealthPoint’s parking lot, just off Highway 17. In addition to having a valid ID, blood donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good health.

All blood types are needed, so roll up your sleeve and come give the gift of life. Register online at  http://www.redcrossblood.org or call Health Point at 237-2205. Walk-ins are also welcome.

Georgetown Hospital System is a private, not-for-profit entity. The system consists of Georgetown Memorial Hospital, Waccamaw Community Hospital and several facilities throughout Horry and Georgetown Counties.  For more information about Georgetown Hospital System please visit our website at www.GeorgetownHospitalSystem.org.
