Residents and businesses are invited to “Recycle a Ton of Paper!” by helping to fill the school’s new Paper Retriever® bin. Acceptable types of paper include: newspapers, magazines, catalogs, mail, and non-confidential office paper. Paper Retriever® is a fundraiser program that allows participating organizations to host bins to collect paper, which is then recycled, and the proceeds benefit the host – a win-win for everyone!
“Our goal is to literally collect of a ton of paper from the Greensburg community during our kick-off weekend.” said K.A.R.A.T.’s Recycling Coordinator, Pamala Mielnicki Paper will be weighed-in at the events to demonstrate how many trees can be saved in just two days of collection.
“Paper Retriever® supports K.A.R.A.T.’s commitment to sustainability and the environment and for us to become a significant part of providing green services for our local community,” said K.A.R.A.T.’s Head of School, Susan McDonald. “And it’s just one of our efforts to become more “green” as an institution while encouraging others to do the same.”
Friday, September 14, 2012 will focus on business recycling and will feature a free lite lunch and information about the school’s recycling services and Saturday, September 15, 2012 will focus on recycling for families – featuring fun games, prizes, paper-making and free refreshments.
The K.A.R.A.T. School Paper Retriever bin is available to the community for paper recycling at any time. The distinctive yellow and green bin labeled “Paper Retriever® Recycling” is conveniently located in the parking lot close to 3rd Street. Cardboard, paper-board (such as cereal boxes) plastic bags or trash are not able to be accepted at this time.
