Aug. 18, 2012 - PRLog -- Bathroom tiles are easy to change, its choosing the right tiles for your bathroom that can be difficult. There is a lot to consider when fitting bathroom tiles for the first time or replacing existing tiles that may have become dated, cracked or worn over time.

Its important to make the right choice of tiles in terms of the colors of the tiles and also the materials. There is a lot of choice for tiles on the market so getting this right will involve looking at quite a number of options before settling on the right one. Also its important to match up your tiles with the rest of your bathroom. You really want to be either creating an accent or a contrast to the other colors that are or that will be in the bathroom.

Ceramic tiles of course are the most popular due to them being quick as easy to install, widely available from most suppliers and also come with a vast choice of colors, styles and sizes. You need to consider the rest of the bathroom design when choosing your tiles. You would tend to want to have the same color in the wall tiles as you do in the floor tiles. Contrasting colors may also be used but you have to be careful in either case to strike the right balance.

Another decision that you will have to make is how much of your bathroom you will want to tile. If you just want to be functional with your tiling then you can simply tile the areas of the bathroom that you expect to get wet on a regular basis. So behind the sink around the top of the bath, the walls in and adjacent to the shower. Or for form you can simple tile the lower half of the bathroom.

If more natural type of tiles are being used such as marble, slate or travertine then often larger areas are tiled as these are being used to create part of the theme and the atmosphere of the bathroom. So you would tend to tile the whole shower or bath area floor to ceiling rather than just sections. But of course this really depends on the look you are trying to go for.

If your not very creative then its worth getting the assistance of a tile professional or interior designer to help you come up with the right look for your tiles. They will have seen many different tiling arrangements and should have previous work to show you to give you more ideas.

Whatever tiles you choose be sure to order samples or go and see them in store so that you know what you are getting. Never just order blindly online as the images you see on your computers may not be able to capture the correct colors in the tiles so you may be disappointed when you see your tiles in person.
