Hecla Mining Company, the No. 1 U.S. silver producer, picks Astra’s FastAP for IFS to automate AP

Hecla Mining, the largest primary producer of silver in the United States, has purchased Astra’s AP automation solution for the IFS community, FastAP for IFS, and has chosen Astra to implement FastAP starting in the third quarter of 2012

Sept. 10, 2012 - PRLog -- Founded in 1891 and listed on the New York Stock Exchange for over 40 years, Hecla Mining receives and processes supplier invoices at multiple sites within the United States.  This operational necessity created problems of poor visibility and slow cycle time on top of the cost and inefficiency of  handling, storing and searching for paper invoices.

“We had an excellent staff and a lean operating model pushing a cumbersome, paper based process,” remarked Alan MacPhee, Hecla’s Controller.  “We decided to automate AP in order to create a faster, more manageable process flow and to free our staff for higher value add activities.  FastAP For IFStm was the right solution at the right price, and we see it as a valuable part of our IFS ERP system.”

FastAP delivers an end-to-end solution for automating supplier invoice processing within IFS. The solution provides:

√   Advanced data capture using INVOICES by ReadSoft, a global leader in the AP
             space.
√   Astra’s APConnectfor IFS to map and transfer the invoice data and images
             between INVOICES and IFS Financials.
√  The IFS Supplier Invoice Workflow Module (e-invoice) to automate 3-way invoice
matching and authorization routing.  Its management tools include process
reporting analytics, in-process invoice visibility, flexible workflows and built-in
             audit trails.

“We are looking forward to working with Hecla and kicking-off the implementation of FastAP this quarter,” said Naren Velu, President and CEO of Astra.  “Our automation solution provides an excellent ROI, and it isn’t always driven by head-count reduction.  Savvy companies like Hecla are using FastAP as the engine that drives a redesigned process flow in AP in order to achieve KPI levels that are unreachable with manual processing.  At the same time, their experienced staff can now focus their valuable time on business process analytics and further process improvements.”
